Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) and Insects
The Kingsley Bioswale this year is a tall carpet of milkweeds. Most
are the Common Milkweed (A. syriaca) but occasional orange Butterfly
weeds (A. tuberosa) and Swamp Milkweeds such as this one stand
out. A Bumblebee (Bombus sp.) and a Great Black Wasp (Sphex
pensylvanicus) are both gathering nectar from these flowers. The
bioswale is host also to numerous other insects, including lots of Monarch
Butteflies.
