Sycamore, Platanus occidentalis
This old Sycamore is growing next to the road between Concord Avenue and Sousa's Rock. The trunk is completely hollow, yet the tree is very much alive. The living tissue of a tree is on the outside, just under the bark., so the tree can keep growing.
