Winter Tree Identification
Fresh Pond Ranger Jean Rogers introduced a bundled-up group of interested
people to some of Fresh Pond's trees in their winter garb. Participants
learned that trees in winter can be identified by their buds, bark,
and any persistent fruit or leaves that can be found. The program ended
at the Maynard Ecology Center in Neville Place, where Jean recommended
several tree guides, and treated us all to hot cocoa and cookies.
