Winterberry, Ilex glabra
This native holly is a deciduous shrub (it loses its leaves in the fall) but the branches are far from bare. These bright red berries will persist through most of the winter until a flock of hungry American Robins or Cedar Waxwings descends upon them, and eats every last one.
