Wednesday Weeders.
Rebecca Ramsay, Elizabeth Wylde, Betsy Meyer , and Squizzle Plekavich
(left to right) were among about a dozen members of Friends of Fresh
Pond Reservation who rallied to the call to help remove weeds from the
Kingsley Park Bioswale. The bioswale was "adopted" by the
Friends group in 2007 after we noticed that it was being overrun by
Burdock, Mugwort, and a number of other rapidly spreading weeds. This
year for the first time we were able to finish the job before the end
of the weeding season. The bioswale is now in excellent condition, with
Milkweeds, Vervains, Wild Senna, and a variety of other native wildflowers
growing in abundance.
