Lusitania Meadow has received some much-needed maintenance this year
from several sources: the Water Department sent landscape workers to
remove the gigantic Mugwort that were towering over the wildflowers,
they hired New England Wild Flower Society conservation workers to tackle
the Purple Loosestrife that has been spreading there, and they welcomed
the participation of volunteer Reservation Stewards led by Water Department
Manager's Assistant Emily Tansey. The volunteers removed a variety of
noxious weeds ranging from Mugwort to Burdock, Bull Thistle, Canada
Thistle, Pokeweed, Bittersweet Nightshade, and Ragweed.
