Nest Box Building Workshop
Nancy Guppy (left) and Renee LaPlume assemble nesting boxes that will
be put up on the Reservation with the goal of attracting Tree Swallows.
Swallows consume large numbers of mosquitoes and other flying insects.
The birds normally nest in cavities in dead trees, but have lost nesting
sites at Fresh Pond due to the removal of dead trees that are considered
a safety hazard.
