Larger Blue Flag, Iris versicolor
This is a native North American wild iris. It is far less often seen in its natural wetland habitats than is the yellow iris (Iris pseudoacorus) that today is so common. The non-native yellow iris are listed in the Invasive Plants Atlas of New England as invasive in Massachusetts. These plants are growing in the Water Department Bioswale that is located between the Water Department parking lot and Fresh Pond Parkway.
