White Avens and Yellow Avens
Geum canadense and G. aleppicum
These weedy native wildflowers like to grow in dappled shade or woodland
edges. The flowers are borne on two-foot tall stalks. Each seed on the
seedhead (shown in right-hand photo) is tipped by a tiny hook that can
catch on animal fur or human clothing for transport to a new location.
