Composting with Worms
Randi Mail, Director of Recycling for the City of Cambridge, had an
attentive audience as she explained the steps for creating one's own
indoor worm composting bin. Most people who attended were thinking about
starting their own worm bins. At the end of the program there was a
raffle to give away a ready-to-use worm bin.
The use of a worm bin greatly reduces the amount of garbage that has
to be taken to a landfill. In addition, the decomposed vegetable material
makes an excellent potting medium when mixed with potting soil, and
the liquids generated by the process is a highly nutritious fertilizer.
