Chinese Scholar Tree, Sophora japonica
The green hue of this small tree on the golf course is not caused by buds or leaves, but rather by numeerous bean-like pods that formed in the fall. The pods, the showy flowers in August that produced them, and divided leaves are all evidence that this plant is a member of the Legume Family.
