Whole Tree Identification
The Friends group's annual winter trek onto the golf course was highlighted this year by dramatic weather: lightening, thunder, and an intense snow squall followed by bright sun, wind, and extreme cold. Susan Coolidge (long blue coat, left photo) led an intrepid group of 7 participants to see the enormous American Beeches, Fagus grandifolia, in the woods near Neville Place (left) and trees on the golf course including this Black Willow, Salix nigra (right).
