Striate Bird's Nest, Cyanthus striatus
Among the many mushrooms that responded to our rainy August weather
were numerous clusters of these tiny (quarter-inch) cup-shaped mushrooms.
Ridged on the inside like minute scallop shells, they each contain 3
or 4 egg-shaped bodies that burst open to release spores when a drop
of rain water lands on them.
