Marsh Marigold, Caltha palustris
In Nature, usually found in wet areas, many of these native wildflowers
seem to be happy growing in the woods at the east end of the Beech Path,
where they were planted as part of the Northeast Sector Restoration
Project. These members of the Buttercup Family do not have petals: what
we see as yellow "petals" are actually sepals.
