Pigeon Parking
The roof of the tower over the front door of the Walter J. Sullivan
Water Purification Facility is a popular perching spot for pigeons.
Ancestors of these non-native birds from Europe and Asia, also called
Rock Pigeons, originally perched on rocky cliffs. Their modern descendents
discovered the benefits of manmade structures for perching, and the
ease of living on food scraps left by careless humans.
