Canada Mayflower, Maianthemum canadensis
Several healthy patches of these native spring wildflowers can be found
under the white pines in the area near the intersection of Fresh Pond
Parkway and Huron Avenue. Also called Wild Lily-of-the-Valley, they
are, in fact, unable to compete with the real Lily-of-the-Valley
(Convallaria majalis), a non-native garden plant that is spreading
invasively through these woods and other wooded areas on the Reservation.
