Lance-leaved Coreopsis, Coreopsis lanceolata

The buffer zone between the golf course and Little Fresh Pond has been seeded with this cheerful native wildflower. The swath of golden yellow flowers is a visual knockout. In the garden this species of coreopsis can be quite aggressive. Its smaller and more delicate cousin, Whorled Coreopsis (C. verticillata) is also very pretty but much better mannered.
