Screech Owl
Peering from a cavity in a tree near the Perimeter Road at fencepost # 502, this little owl has become something of a celebrity at Fresh Pond Reservation. Frequent Pond Walker (FPW) Richard Gardner, who first spotted and photographed the owl in June, has spread the word among other Pond-walkers. Recently other FPW's have reported seeing two owls in the same cavity, one with reddish feathers and the other with grayish feathers. The two owls are probably a pair. Whether they have young in the cavity is not known.
