Glaciers at Fresh Pond
A Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation Program
This program began at a parking lot on top of a glacial moraine (the
golf course clubhouse on Huron Avenue) and took participants around
the shores of a glacial kettlehole pond (Fresh Pond). Indoors at the
Maynard Ecology Center they examined maps and made their own topographical
maps, and observed the properties of melting ice and running water in
hands-on demonstrations. The program was led by Fresh Pond Ranger Jean
Rogers (at left in left photo) and Maynard Ecology Center coordinator
Susan Agger (facing left in white sweater, right photo).
