Bloodroot, Sanguinaria canadensis
These lovely perennial native wildflowers are known as "spring ephererals" because they emerge and flower early in the spring before the trees above them leaf out, then die back and become dormant until the following spring. Several have been planted as part of the Northeast Sector Project.
