Common Milkweed, Asclepias syriaca
Milkweed seeds are arranged neatly inside the pod, overlapping like the scales of a fish. Soon after the pod opens, however, moving air releases the fluffy white parachutes (called pappuses) that will carry the seeds away from the parent plant to a new location.
