Shrubby Cinquefoil, Potentilla fructosa
A lovely member of the rose family, this small native shrub is normally
yellow. The white cultivar provides an interesting contrast. These plants
are growing in the fenced areas near the Water Department building.
There are four other cinquefoil species at Fresh Pond (Common, Rough,
Rough-fruited, and Silvery), and all are small herbaceous plants that
appear in the spring.
