Wild Geranium, Geranium maculatum
Although this is a common native wildflower, such a pretty plant seems surprising in the woods at Fresh Pond. Invasive non-native species dominate the landscape. Restoration efforts in the Northeast Sector and at Little Fresh Pond will reintroduce a number of native species to these areas. The challenge for the future will be to keep the invasive species at bay.
