Pond Life at Black's Nook

Participants in this Biodiversity Days program observed and recorded living things ranging in size from algae and minute insects to trees and birds. Program co-leader Susan Agger (red jacket in left hand photo) demonstrated methods of collecting macroinvertebrates from the water. Later, indoors, the family in the right-hand photo are seen examining specimens swimming in a pan. Squizzle Plekavich, center photo, used a plankton net to collect algae and zooplankton, which he later identified and photographed through microscope.
