Larger Blue Flag, Iris versicolor
We found this native iris growing among the native wildflowers, grasses and sedges in the Water Department bio-swales. Blue flag habitat in the United States is being seriously encroached by the non-native and more aggressive Yellow Iris (Water Flag), Iris pseudoacorus. There are many yellow iris growing on the banks of Black's Nook.
