Wildflower Identification Using Newcomb's Wildflower Guide

After watching a power point presentation demonstrating the use of Newcomb's unique system for identifying wildflowers, participants in this Friends group program looked at and used the guide to identify wildflowers in the bio-swale in front of the Cambridge Water Department. A patch of native moisture-loving wildflowers (left photo) includes Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum), middle photo, and Spotted Joe-Pye Weed (E. maculatum), right photo, here visited by honey bees and a Scudder's Willow Sulfur butterfly (Colias scudcerii).
