Common Milkweed, Asclepias syriaca
These milkweeds are extremely common in the Kingsley Park swale at the
bottom of the former "Dog Bowl." There are hundreds of them,
with some orange Butterfly Weed (A. tuberosa) mixed in. On a sunny day
there are also an abundance of Monarch Butterflies. Larvae of this butterfly
live exclusively on milkweed, so perhaps this area will be a birthing
place for many other Monarchs.
