Pond Monster?

This strange looking structure can be seen near the shoreline of Fresh Pond at the base of Huron Avenue hillside opposite Fountain Terrace. It is the remains of a fountain that in the late 1800's was the outlet to the Pond from Stony Brook Reservior. This 30 foot high spout of water greeted visitors to the Pond who came in by carriage via Fountain Terrace, which was then connected to the Pond Road through an underpass beneath Huron Avenue.
