Duck, Duck, GOOSE!
Ranger Jean Rogers asks, "What makes a duck a duck, and a goose
a goose?" During this family program we learned about waterfowl
behavior, such as diving and dabbling, migration, molting, and mating.
Then we went outside to look at birds on the water. At Black's Nook
we had good looks through the telescope at male hooded mergansers, and
on Fresh Pond we saw ring-necked ducks, ruddy ducks, coots, canvasbacks,
and one male red-headed duck (a special treat for birders!)
