Brant, Branta bernicala
An extremely rare visitor to Fresh Pond, this lone juvenile bird was seen grazing on the golf course near the north shore of Little Fresh Pond. Brant are small geese that are usually found in flocks on coastal waters. Adults are easily recognized by a narrow white ring around the upper neck. Adults also lack the white barring that is visible on this bird's wings.
