Nest Box Check
Volunteers Janet Randall and her daughter Noa check the tree swallow
nesting box at the south end of Little Fresh Pond. The nest in this
box (shown in the photo) and one other box were nearly complete. We
will check for eggs in two weeks.
Some birds will
abandon a nesting box if people come too close. Tree swallows seem relatively
undisturbed, and will return to the nest immediately after the people
move away from it.
