          Tree Swallow Babies
Box 1 at Blacks Nook and Box 2 at the north end of Little Fresh Pond
All four nest boxes were opened and the contents photographed.
There seem to be four or more babies in Box 1 and three in Box 2.
Box 3 contained 2 house sparrow fledglings, and the photo of the nest
in Box 4 did not reveal the contents, although swallows were seen entering
          the box.
        It is possible that
the unusually cold weather in May had a negative effect on the rearing
of these young birds, since the flying insects on which they are fed
were less abundant and less active than usual.
