Rugosa Rose, Rosa rugosa
The shrubs bearing the sweet-smelling flowers of the Rugosa Rose also sport a formidable arsenal of sharp spines. Originally imported from the China, they have been used in the United States on traffic islands and as security barriers. Unfortunately they have escaped from cultivation and have become invasive in the Northeast.
