Yellow Avens, Geum aleppicum
These inconspicuous native wildflowers grow in abundance in the woodsy
areas of the Reservation. They might easily be mistaken for buttercups,
which also have five yellow petals and divided leaves. Avens, however,
are in the Rose family (Rosaceae), whereas buttercups are in the Buttercup
family (Ranunculaceae).
