Beaked Hazelnut (Corylus cornuta)
A grove of these nut-bearing shrubs has been planted near the road adjacent to Kingsley Park. The nuts which are contained within the leafy light-green structures shown here, are also known as filberts. They are edible by humans, but most of these nuts will probably provide food for squirrels, chipmunks and other small animals.
